The New York Times appeared to try a new tactic in its campaign to convince the public that global warming is real. But don’t let the Times’ Oct. 10 report on the economic upside of Arctic melting confuse you -- there still isn’t any evidence that human activity is melting the polar regions.
This is the lead-in to an analysis of a recent article in the Times which seems to suggest that global warming is so awful that it is increasing the possibility that it could open up our ability to reach precious oil and energy reservoirs in that region. It seems hard to believe the Times is advocating global warming is good in any manner, but a look at the science suggests that global warming has nothing to do with any good fortune presenting itself.
